My Personal Testimony

Hi. My name is Eric, and I’m the host of this website.

This is how I gave my life to Christ.

I was initially raised in a catholic home. I would attend church with my family until I was old enough to stay home on my own.

I was curious growing up, became interested in ghost stories, and eventually got somewhat involved in the occult.

One day, someone gave me a booklet titled “Born Again Christian”.

When I got home, I ended up throwing the book on my shelf. A few weeks later, while cleaning my room, I came across the booklet and began reading it. There were many things that I didn’t understand, I’m guessing because I was 15 years old at the time. Not to mention, the whole ‘Born Again’ concept was a bit confusing to me.

I ended up calling my aunt because she was one of the people in my family that I would talk to when I had questions. She told me that I should talk to my father’s friend because he was “into that”.

Anyway, I gave him a call, and we ended up meeting. He began explaining what it meant to be a Born-Again Christian. He explained how we are all sinners, but he explained to me that God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins and that by accepting Him into my life, when I die, I would go to Heaven. He showed me a picture, which you can see below, of how people are constantly trying to reach Heaven by being a good person, practicing a religion, or doing good deeds, but the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. (See image below)

Up until that moment, I was taught that as long as I was a good person, I would go to Heaven when I died.

After he had explained all of this, he asked if I wanted to invite Jesus Christ into my life. Now that I understood what being Born Again meant, I wanted to accept Jesus Christ into my life. So, he said a prayer and told me to recite it out loud with him. So I did.

Afterwards, he told me that I was now a child of God. He told me that I would still make mistakes (sin), but that Jesus was in Heaven advocating on my behalf to God.

He said that now that I was a Christian, I would need to repent from my sins. (repent means to turn away from your sin) It doesn’t mean that I would stop sinning, for there was only one person who lived who was 100% without sin, and that was Jesus Christ. But he said that I had to try to live a Christ-like life.

Anyhow, from the age of 15 to roughly 25, that’s what I tried to do.

When I was 25, something happened to one of my friends at church that I disagreed with, so I decided to leave the church.

I told God that our relationship would still be ok. It was for a few weeks, but slowly I returned to my old life.

Roughly 10 years later, I met someone who is now my wife on a dating site. Both our profiles said that we were “not religious”.

Around 5-6 years ago, I was at my computer, and for some reason, I had never deleted my Christian music from my laptop. However, at that moment, I felt the need to listen to some Christian music. After a couple of songs, I felt the Holy Spirit calling me back to God.

Just like it says in the book of Matthew 18:12-14;

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.

So, right then and there, I asked God for forgiveness, repented and gave my life back to Jesus.

One of the reasons I am writing my testimony is that sometimes when I talk to people on Instagram or other Social Media platforms, I like to share my testimony, hoping that God will use it for His purpose and bring people to Him.

Even after I regave my life to Jesus, I still had a foul mouth.

The Bible says in Ephesians 4:29;

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what builds others up according to their needs, so that it may benefit those who listen.

I knew that it was wrong for me to swear, so I told God that I would try to stop, but that I would need His help.

It took about three years for me to truly stop swearing, and he also helped me with my patience.

Moving on. After I gave my life back to Christ, I started telling my wife about Jesus, but she told me she didn’t believe in God.

I kept trying until she was getting somewhat ticked off at me. So, I decided to stop speaking to her about it, and now, the only option left is for me to pray for her and let the Holy Spirit do His work.

As Christians, it’s not our job to bring people to Christ; our purpose is to plant the seed and let the Holy Spirit take it from there.

Moving on. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, the Word says,

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?

However, in the book of Matthew 5:32, Jesus says;

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Therefore, when certain people tell me that because I regave my life to Christ, I’m unequally yoked, that I must divorce my wife.

I am never going to divorce my wife. I love her, and I know that someday she will give her life to Jesus.

As a Christian, I strive to live a Christ-like life every day and share the Gospel through my Podcasts.

God bless.
